What to eat?

We help clients host tons of different kinds of events in our space: weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, brainstorming sessions, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, gallery openings, galas, and other parties of all sorts. A meal shared with friends, family, co-workers, and clients is a chance to pause and enjoy everyone’s company. You may have noticed Greenhouse Loft has an approved catering list. We have the list for a couple of reasons; our caterers are committed to upholding green practices, they provide excellent service, and most importantly all of our caterers make delicious food for any kind of event.

Every event has different needs and every caterer on our list can meet them. There are a myriad of dining options available depending on what kind of event you are having. The most typical events in our space have plated meals, family style meals, or buffets.

Plated dinners are the most formal and most traditional. With plated meals you need the most staff to serve the meal, there are less options for your guests, and assigned seating is necessary so that service goes smoothly. Some advantages to plated meals include helping the schedule of your event stay on time, helping each guest feel special because of the individual service, and minimal food waste. Plated meals work best for more intimate events at Greenhouse Loft.

Next up are family style meals; family style meals are another popular option for catered events in our space. First, the bad news; sometimes with family style, one guest will take more than his/her fair share and the last person at the table will still be hungry! Secondly, family style service will limit how much room you have on the table for decor, candles and place settings (and you want to make sure that the service ware is up to your aesthetic standards)! Besides those two pitfalls, family style meal service can be a great option for your event. On the plus side, family style service allows for people to eat the quantity they decide upon (if you have good servers, the empty platters will be refilled and no one will leave hungry). Family style service also allows for a more casual atmosphere and can help your guests really get to know one another.

Last up is buffet style. Buffet style is by far the most popular option for meal service in our space at Greenhouse Loft. With the counter space in the middle of Greenhouse Loft, there is a natural space for a buffet already existing. The downside of buffets is that sometimes the line can get long. However, this problem is easily solved by creating a two sided buffet on the counter as well as other stations around the space, so no one is ever too hungry. Buffet style events also allow for the most flexibility in the kind of food you are serving, the options are limitless! Buffet style events also offer more choices in how you organize your event, assigned seating, open seating or partial seating.

Whichever option you choose, your caterer will be happy to discuss all of the options with you, so you get exactly what you want for your event!
